In this 10 days' period you have an exploratory trip in each of the imperial cities in order to explore historical monuments and old ruins. Enjoy the mountainous landscapes and experience camel trekking in the Sahara desert of Erg Chebbi.
When you arrive at the airport of Casablanca you will be welcomed by your driver who will promptly drive you off towards your accommodation.
Breakfast and begin your day with a visit to The Hassan II Mosque, one of the most remarkable places in Casablanca. Your next destination is the imperial city of Rabat where you will visit Oudayas Kasbah, Mechouar which is the walls around the royal palace, and the tombs of Mohammed V and Hassan II. Drive to hotel.
Start off for another imperial city, Meknes. Go around the Medina, the Jewish quarter and the Roman ruins of Volubilis, an old city built in the 3rd century B.C. Then drive to your accommodation in Fes.
On this day you will visit the old Medina of Fes, a beautiful place that splendidly shows fascination of antiquity. Get to see Bou Inania Madrasa, Al-Attarine Madrasa, Ennajarine Fountain, Moulay Idriss’s tomb and Al-Qarawiyyine University, the oldest university in the world where many scientists had been to, such as Ibn Khaldoun(1332-1406), the founder of sociology.
Have lunch there before you drop by for a visit to the new part ‘Fes Al-Jdid. As darkness falls, head for hotel/riad.
Setting out from Fes, you will cross the Middle Atlas mountains towards Ifran. Enjoy the spectacle of Berber villages and Cedar forests along the way. Pass through Ifran, ‘little Switzerland’ as some like to nickname it for its beauty, and Azrou. Cross Ziz gorges and Ziz valley to see a special view of palmtrees. Via Erfoud, drive to Merzouga on an off-road linking the two towns.
It’s a different environment you won’t see anywhere else. During our trip we drive on a 4×4 to explore the desert, green oasis, nomads and visit the home of origin of dark-skinned people called "Gnawa" to listen to their enjoyable music they produce with drums and other traditional instruments. Before sunset, experience camel trekking as you cross the sand dunes towards a desert camp. Before you reach the camp, watch the sun sinks below horizon. Enjoy the night in the camp.
In the morning, wake as earlier as you can so as not to miss the stunning view of sunrise. Then trek back to hotel to breakfast. On your way to Todra Gorges, pass through Rissani and Tafilalt, the hometown of Alaouite Dynasty. Todra Gorges is a nice place with water springing from the rocky mountains and run down the green valley. You will also see the beautiful town of Boumalne Dades and the ‘Rose Valley’ known throughout Morocco as the capital of roses for its wide cultivation of roses besides apples, fig, corn…etc. The Kasbahs embellish the road with a hint of ancientness, making of it ‘The Road of a Thousand Kasbahs’. Overnight at a riad in Ouarzazate.
Drive to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a Berber earthen structure dating back many centuries. Get a closer look at the gripping architecture of the high walls and the strong ceilings, walk down the narrow streets to feel something you’ve never felt before: the fragrance of old ages coming out of the scars rain and wind had made.
After this historical and cultural visit, follow a mountainous road for 8 km to find the road leading to Marrakesh. Get fascinated by small Berber villages, valleys before you find yourself over a winding pass at an elevation of 2260m. Have lunch in Tadart, a small village famous for serving Moroccan traditional food. Arrive in Marrakesh by sunset.
In the morning get ready to discover Marrakesh, Morocco’s touristic capital. Visit many impressive places, including: Menara, Palaces of Bahia and Badi and Saadian mausoleums. Enjoy Moroccan traditional lunch at a restaurant to resume your trip. Visit the Koutoubia Mosque, built in the 12th century, and Djemaa El Fna, the place no one misses when visiting Marrakesh. The attractive square of Djemaa El Fna is well-known for vitality at night when people crowd around comedians, storytellers, snake enchanters…etc
