Itinerary
1st day: Fes - Ifrane - Arfoud – Merzouga.
After you wake up and have breakfast, you will drive early to chase time for this long journey to the desert of Merzouga. To start with, you will pass by Ifrane, a Europe-like town with pseudo-alpine weather, then by the Cedar Forest of Azrou, where you will stop to see the Barbary Macaques of Morocco climbing and jumping the trees. Later on, you will go across the forested mountain range of the Middle Atlas and enjoy a variety of stunning landscapes all along the way. After lunch, you will drive via the date-palm valley of Ziz and admire its breathtaking views. You will also pass by Arfoud, the fossil town of Morocco, and Rissani which is a market place. Upon arrival in Merzouga where your desert adventure commences, you will take an hour-long ride by camels across the great sand dunes of Erg Chebbi into a desert camp. Almost half way, you will stop to admire the spectacular view of sunset.
At night, there will be a drum show performed by some local guys around campfire. Surrounded by dunes and a star-filled sky above, you will be well-positioned to watch and photograph the stars, shooting stars and the milky-way.
2nd day: Way back to Fes.
You will need to wake up early in order to see the captivating landscape of sunrise. Afterward, you will eat a delicious breakfast in the camp and then return to the village where your car will be waiting. You will take the same road and arrive in Fes by the afternoon.
Accommodation
We offer two types of different comfortable desert camp, standard and superior. The superior desert camp include private bathroom inisde the tents.
Luggage
We recommend bringing small backpack for the trip and leave the rest of the luggage at your accommodation.
