Itinerary
1st day: Marrakech – Ouarzazate – Rose Valley.
Set off from Marrakesh towards Ouarzazate via the High Atlas mountains where you’ll enjoy the view of Berber villages built along the valleys, pass through Tizi N Tichka, a wonderful winding road at a height of 2260m above sea level. Then, we reach the kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a fascinating old castle, considered to be the best one in Morocco because of its rich history dating back many centuries. Walk within the ruins and discover the quiet life of the families living there. Drive through Ouarzazate and Skoura to overnight in a hotel in the Rose Valley.
2nd day: Rose Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga.
Head to the valley of Dades, then the gorges of Todra, have a break from time to time to enjoy the landscapes. Passing by the valleys of palm trees, you find yourself in the town of Erfoud, very known for fossils shops, which you’ll have the chance to visit. In the afternoon, draw into the desert town of Merzouga where you will experience something different. Overnight in a hotel by the sand dunes.
3rd day: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi – Merzouga.
There’s so much to see in Merzouga area, drive a 4×4 to discover the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi, visit some nomads and oases nearby. The village of the dark-skinned people is included on to-be-visited list. Once you arrive at the village, listen to the original folk music of Gnawa made with a kind of large drums and otheru traditional instruments. Then drive back to the hotel. In the afternoon ride on camels and enjoy the charming sand dunes and the quiet environment around. Merzouga is said to be one of the world’s best places to watch sunset. Reach the camp, be welcomed with a cup of tea and have dinner. Delight in Berber music and overnight in a tent.
4th day: Merzouga – Rissani – Alnif – Zagora.
Wake up as early as possible to watch the sunrise and ride on camels back to the hotel to freshen up and breakfast. After that, we go towards Zagora through the towns of Tafilalt, Alnif and the Jbel Saghrou amid the Anti-Atlas mountains, pass by the Tazarine town, N’kob, and the Draa valley of palm trees. Then head to our next destination, Zagora where you will overnight at a hotel.
5th day: Zagora – Ouarzazate – Marrakech.
The day starts with crossing the Draa valley and Tizi N’Tniffift in the Atlas mountains. Have lunch in Ouarzazate and visit the stunning Kasbah of Taourirt. In the afternoon, we drive to our final destination, Marrakesh via Tizi N Tichka.
