Its minaret is the world’s second tallest minaret at 210 meters. Your next destination will be the imperial and the capital city of Rabat where you will visit its famous sites, including: Oudayas Kasbah, Hassan tower and the mausoleum of the late kings Mohammed V and Hassan II, the Roman ruins of Chellah, Mechouar which is the walls around the royal palace, etc.

Volubilis contains essentially Roman ruins of an ancient city built in the 3rd century B.C in a commanding site near the city of Meknes. Volubilis is also a UNESCO world heritage site; listed to be preserved as part of the Roman Empire.

The next destination is the imperial city of Meknes to get the most out of its monuments and the atmosphere of the Medina with its varied and busy Souks. Namely, El Hedim square (the focal point of the Medina) and the great Bad Mansour (the centerpiece of the city’s gateways) are amongst the extraordinary creations of Moulay Ismail, the city founder. Noticeably, Meknes is relaxed than its more illustrious neighbor (Fez).

You will arrive at your hotel in Fes by late afternoon.

Day 4: Guided Tour Of Fes.

This day will be dedicated to visiting the city of Fes and you will start with its old Medina ‘Fes El Bali’, a beautiful labyrinth of around ten thousand lanes that splendidly shows fascination of antiquity. You will get to see all of its historical sites, including: Bou Inania Madrasa, Al-Attarine Madrasa, Ennajarine Fountain, Moulay Idriss’s tomb and Al-Qarawiyyine University, the oldest university in the world where many scientists had been to, such as Ibn Khaldoun(1332-1406),the founder of sociology.

You will end the visit with a delicious lunch in the Medina before you head to visiting the new part of Fes ‘Fes Al-Jdid’.

As darkness falls, head to hotel/riad.

Day 5: Fes – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga Dunes.

You will set out from Fes via the Middle Atlas mountains towards Ifrane. You will stop to visit this spectacular town ‘little Switzerland’ as it is nicknamed for its beauty, pseudo-alpine weather and villas. Afterwards, you will drive through the Cedar forest of Azrou and stop to see the Barbary macaques which dwell it. Along the way to the desert, you will enjoy the stunning Berber villages of The Middle Atlas Mountains. Furthermore, you will drive along the great date-palm valley of Ziz to admire one of the most wonderful natural views of southern Morocco. By the time you reach Erfoud which is considered Morocco’s town of fossils, you will stop over in some place for fossils. In early afternoon, you will arrive in Merzouga where your desert adventure commences.

Day 6: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi – Merzouga.

It is a different environment you won’t see anywhere else. However, you will enjoy an exciting drive on a 4×4 to explore the stunning landscapes and rough terrains of the desert. The first spot to visit is the dunes neighboring village of Khamlia, the hometown of a dark-skinned ethnic group who will welcome you with a cup of tea while enjoying their traditional music which is called Gnaoua music. Next, you will visit a French abandoned mining site which originated during the French period, and then the drive proceeds alongside the immense sand dunes towards one of the local nomads’ residences so as to find out about their lifestyle. After lunch in a local restaurant, you will go for a visit to the desert oasis and desert Lake where you will see several species of birds.

You will drive back to the hotel in the afternoon in order to go trekking on camels over the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. Watch the spectacular view of sunset before you arrive to a desert camp in the heart of the desert. At night, you will enjoy a drum show around campfire played by some local guys. In the clear desert sky, you will be well-placed to admire and shoot the stars, shooting stars and the milky-way.

Day 7: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Skoura – Ouarzazate.

In the morning, you will need to wake early so as not to miss the stunning view of sunrise. After breakfast, you will return to the village where your car will await. On your way to Todra Gorges, you will pass through the market town of Rissani which is situated in Tafilalet Oasis, Morocco’s largest oasis. Once you arrive in Todra Gorges, you will have time to walk in its high canyon walls. Todra is indeed a nice place with water springing from the rocky mountains of the Atlas and run down a green valley. You will continue the drive to the beautiful town of Dades and the verdant Rose Valley which is known throughout Morocco for its wide cultivation of roses besides apples, fig, corn…etc. Before arriving in Ouarzazate, another stop will be at the Kasbah Amredil in Skoura palm grove. Amredil is one of the iconic Kasbahs (Castles) in the country. Tens of old Kasbahs embellish the road connecting Dades to Ouarzazate with a hint of ancientness, making of it ‘The Road of a Thousand Kasbahs’.

Overnight stay will be in a riad in Ouarzazate.

Day 8: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – The High Atlas – Marrakech.

Ouarzazate is known as the Hollywood of Africa due to the film studios the city has and the many foreign movies have been shot there. However, you will visit all the attractions of Ouarzazate including a film studio and cinema museum before you head towards Ait Ben Haddou. The later is an earthen fortified village which dates back to 12th century. Built alongside the ancient caravan route, Ait Ben Haddou is Morocco’s greatest Kasbah. Furthermore, it is a distinctive location for moviemakers. Several foreign movies have been filmed in the village, some of them are: Gladiator, The Mummy, Babel, Lawrence of Arabia, Game of Thrones, etc.

You will need an hour-long walk to see the whole Kasbah and get a closer look at the gripping architecture of its high walls and strong ceilings. You will also walk down narrow alleys to feel the fragrance of old ages coming out of the scars rain and wind had made.
After this historical and cultural visit, you will follow a mountainous road leading to Marrakesh via the High Atlas Mountain range. You will cross Morocco’s highest pass, the Tichka Pass. At an altitude of 2260m.a.s.l, it offers spectacular views of green valleys and adobe villages.

Arrive in Marrakesh by sunset.

Day 9: Guided Tour Of Marrakech.

The exploratory tour of Marrakech begins in the Medina (the oldest part in Marrakech city) to discover all its historical sites. Throughout your slow and relaxed walk between the crucially important sights of the Medina, your tour guide will explain in detail the history of each monument in particular and the history of the city in general. The most visited ancient monuments are Koutoubia Mosque, Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace and the Djmaa El Fna square. You will also wander through the narrow paths of the Medina until you get to the Souks (Markets) and discover all various hand-crafted products therein. The attractive square of Djemaa El Fna is well-known for vitality at night when people crowd around comedians, storytellers, snake enchanters…etc. Once the walking tour is over, your driver will take you to both Menara and Majorelle gardens.
